About Us
Plant Power Initiative Uganda (PPIU) is a women-led non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting plant-based food systems, advocating for animal rights, and improving the health of Ugandan communities.
Founded in 2023, PPIU works to raise awareness about plant-based food alternatives and compassionate living, with benefits for people, animals, and the environment.
Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, we support individuals and institutions in adopting nutritious, affordable, and locally sourced plant-based diets. We work directly with communities to improve access to plant-based foods, promote urban and rural farming, and equip people with the practical skills to build more resilient food systems.
We recognize the strong link between diet and public health. Plant-based diets are associated with lower rates of chronic diseases including heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. Through our work, we aim to address these health challenges while reducing the environmental impact of food production and advocating for the protection of animals.
“We believe in driving positive change by empowering individuals to embrace plant-based living, advocate for animal rights, and prioritize healthy lifestyles.”
